genius hour post

How do you define success? Success to me is achieving something that you had goals to do good at. something that i have been successful at in my life is during softball season my junior year. I had in my mind that i wanted to get all conference as a shortstop and sure enough i did it. To be successful in reaching my goal i had to work hard every day that i could and really set my mind to it.

How do you define failure? failure to me is something that you have your mind set to but are not able to reach you goal that you wanted to. A time in life where i felt failure was during a test. I had all intentions of doing good and thought that i did good but at the end i didn't end up doing good and was disappointed. what led me to the failure is that i rushed through because i thought i knew most of the answers when i didnt.

How does success or failure influence your personal motivation? are you motivated by success or failure? Failure always influences me the most because when i cant do something that i want to do failing pushes me to work harder for what i want to then be successful.

For my genius hour project i feel as i have been successful in telling people some ways to help prevent you from cancer. they may not always help but it is at least some information that you could try. I could probably contain more information than i have so that is a part in which i feel i have failed. Doing more research will help me more with my blogs for this project and i will know if i have achieved my goals if people say that they didn't know some of the things that you can do to prevent cancer.

ways to prevent skin cancer

Avoid the sun, especially between 10 am and 4 pm, and don’t use sun lamps or tanning beds. Always use sunscreen and lip balm with UVB and UVA protection with SPF 30 or more, even on cloudy days. Apply an ounce of sunscreen—a palm full—20 minutes before going out in the sun and reapply every two hours if in continuous sun. Wear sunglasses that have been treated to absorb UV radiation, a wide brim hat, and clothing made of tightly woven material with long sleeves. Protect children from the sun. Childhood sunburns may increase the risk of melanoma later in life.

Family background

knowing your family background if cancer is very helpful to your health. Find out if you are at higher risk for some cancers because of your family history or your lifestyle. if people have had cancer in your family and you feel that maybe some day you will be at risk you should check into things and talk to your doctor at some point.

Breast Cancer

There are a few ways to prevent breast cancer for girls. The two that i found most interesting were breast feeding and taking birth control pills. Breastfeeding for a total of one year or more lowers the risk of breast cancer. It also has great health benefits for the child. Birth control pills have both risks and benefits. The younger a woman is, the lower the risks are. While women are taking birth control pills, they have a slightly increased risk of breast cancer. This risk goes away quickly, though, after stopping the pill. The risk of stroke and heart attack is also increased while on the pill. Long-term use can have important benefits, like lowering the risk of ovarian cancer, colon cancer and uterine cancer. If you’re very concerned about breast cancer, avoiding birth control pills is one option to lower risk.
